DebbieBlailock

Summary

Debbie arrives on the technology scene by a different route than many sharing this field. She began her career over eight years ago with a Bachelor's Degree in both Elementary and Special Education, and has served in a public school setting since 1988, working with a variety of grade/age levels. Debbie is a lifelong learner with a strong personal philosophy in obtaining new skills to enhance ones abilities. Debbie obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University, in 1996.

Over the course of her profession, Debbie has had an opportunity to use technological resources as an enhancement to the regular classroom curriculum. Realizing over time that the educational community needed to make more efficient and relevant use of the accessible tools, she began to seek ways in which to integrate technological skills into the prescribed elementary curriculum.

Debbie has been formally trained through the Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow (ACOT) program in Cupertino, California. She has also completed workshops and university course work that focus on technology skills and curriculum integration.

Debbie has spent the last two years serving in an administrative capacity as the Assistant Principal of Desert Sage Elementary School. As an administrator, Debbie had the unique opportunity to work together with staff to bring technology curriculum and skills into their classrooms. Current projects include involving teachers, parents, and students with using internet and online resources to broaden their educational perspectives.

Debbie's most recent project includes developing an Online Educational Forum to include live interactive educational conferences, an informational electronic newsletter, and web site. Debbie's experiences for the past eight months as an educational conference host for eWorld have prepared her for this challenge and given her the opportunity to work with educators, parents, and students from all over the world.

Debbie believes the most exciting part of enhancing curriculum with current technology is the ability to bring the world closer together and tap into the vast array of resources that are available.
