
igital video is an extension to the century old tradition of cinema and
movies. What I hope to outline in these pages is the basics of movie making
and how that can be used and abused within the computer. If you have any

When film and then video were first invented the basic way it worked was
to trick the eye by showing images faster that it can recognise them and
to give the appearance of movement. That is still true today with digital
video and we will begin by quickly examining how traditional film and video
work. This will serve as a basis for our understanding of creating effective
animations and video.
