Roscoe Beck
was born in upstate New York, grew up in Austin, Texas and studied music
at North Texas State University. Later, he returned to Austin, where he
created something of a stir with his jazz band Passenger. During this time
in Austin, Roscoe also sat in at many of Antone's blues jam sessions with
the like if Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmie Vaughn and other local celebrities
who later went on to achieve international blues noteriety. In 1979 Roscoe
moved to Los Angeles and hooked up a gig backing singer Leonard Cohen on
his Recent Songs album and tour. A featured backup singer on that tour was
Jennifer Warnes. Some yeara later, Beck would co-produce Jennifer's Famous
Blue Raincoat album and invite several Austin musicians to participate in
the session, including the late Stevie Ray Vaughn. Beck also co-produced
Warnes 1992 album, The Hunter, several tracks of Leonard Cohen's last album,
I'm Your Man, the debut album by Beth Neilsen Chapman, and others. In addition
Roscoe has performed on tow albums by Texas guitar favorite Eric Johnson,
and recruited all the band members of Bruce Willis' second album for Motown,
If It Don't Kill You, It Just Makes You Stronger.

Roscoe plays several different instruments during a concert but relies
heavily on his Signature Fender 5 String Bass and recently has started using
a Zeta Stand Up Bass. For amplification he relies solely on Trace
Elliot amps and speaker cabinets. We will adding additional information
about Roscoes equipment as well as pictures of his set up in the coming
weeks.

The Upright Bass ZB-224
True Acoustic double bass sound!
Provides ultimate playing comfort.
Unique omni-swivel stand allows any height or playing angle.
Plucking and bowing style is faithfully reproduced.
Solid construction makes for a roadworthy, transportable instrument.
Guarantees that you will be heard.
The rigid three piece neck (maple/purple heart/maple) is hand crafted from
these select hardwoods and has the shape and feel of the finest European
upright basses. Our designers and luthiers have carefully calculated where
the player feels the instrument. The detachable shoulder bout holds the
bass in relationship to the body familiar to those that have played the
upright for years. Walk up to it and just start playing. This will be the
most comfotable bass you will ever play. Tendonitis and nerve problems are
significantly reduced. Our optional omni-swivel stand allows the instrument
to be positioned at any height or playing angle and the bassist does not
need to support the bass while playing it.
It's patented bridge pickup system gives the instrument a clean, consistent
acoustic tone WITHOUT FEEDBACK. There are eight piezo pickups, two per string.
On board electronics give the bassist total control over the volume level
of each string, master volume, bass and treble. The string length can be
varied from 3/4 size (41.5") to 7/8 (43.5"). The optional multi-out
cable allows each string to be plugged into a different channel. Great for
studio recording!
