Some fans asked on the Robben Ford and the Blue Line music folder
on American On Line, how the band got its name here is the funny story as
told by Dal Booth and Tom Bretchlein
After around 3 years of Tom and Roscoe not able to agree on a name, they
decided that Blue Train was the one(this was under the pressure of a new
CD about to come out). In doing a name search they found that someone else
had a copy right on Blue train, so in their desperation they noticed no
one had used The Blue line. So with their inability to agree on anything
non musical, Tom and Roscoe settled on Blue Line. I hope we can get Tom
to give us his side. I only watched from the sidelines. I think someone
should ask him about the SPUITS?
Dal Booth ( RF & BL Manager)
Plaz (Tom Bretchlein online persona) here. The spuits is a name Robben,
Roscoe, & myself came up with. We were in a restaurant in Copenhagen
I think the year was 1991. We were trying to come up with a group name that
we could agree on. Roscoe came up with the name "Spell" or "The
Spell". I came up with the name "The Suits". Well Roscoe
and I could'nt agree with either name. In Roscoe's frustration he just said
"Oh hell, why don't we call the band The Spuits"(spell+suits=Spuits'
pronounced "spoots). Well the three of us just laughed our a$$e$ off.
We started making album titles all afternoon. Titles like: "Spuitty
Road", "Magical Mystery Spuit","Let it Spuit","Meet
the Spuits", "Rubber Spuit", you get the picture. So that's
where the name came from. Anyway ,I hope that solves the mystery. Talk to
you
soon! THE PLAZ!
